Winter Orb & Ice Spear Inquisitor: A Path of Exile Build Guide

Greetings, fellow Exiles! If you're tuning into this build guide post-Patch 3.5, the Trejo League, ensure you check the description for updates on the build's current viability. Some items, mechanics, or skill selections may have evolved between patches, potentially altering the build's dynamics. Now, let's delve into the essence of this unique creation.

Meet our intrepid Inquisitor, wielding icy orbs and rods, boldly venturing forth without pants. I found myself torn between a Winter Orb and Ice Spear build, so I opted to merge them using the Cast While Channeling gem. Winter Orb, a new channeling skill, conjures an orb above your head, unleashing ground-targeted area-of-effect projectiles at nearby foes as you channel it. Its cast rate and active duration increase with channeling, allowing autonomous casting while you maneuver. Meanwhile, Ice Spear fires two ice shard projectiles sequentially, with the second form boasting heightened critical strike chance and multiplier. This sequential firing permits substantial single-target damage by stacking projectiles strategically.

By combining these skills with Cast While Channeling, projectiles, and damage multipliers, we achieve staggering clear speed and single-target damage. Noteworthy are the rare Shaper staves, incorporating built-in supports like Cast While Channeling or Power Charge on Critical Strike, enhancing our damage potential.

This build, leveraging Inquisitor's flexibility, cares not for elemental damage type, enabling utilization of various elemental sources to amplify damage. It's budget-friendly, relying on the potency of Cast While Channeling Ice Spear and Inquisitor's elemental damage buffs. Though challenging, I triumphed against all game bosses, including Uber Elder, with room for further enhancement.

Offensively, our arsenal includes channeling Winter Orb for mapping, supplemented by Arc or Freezing Pulse for enhanced clearing range. For single-target encounters, Ice Spear reigns supreme. As Inquisitors, we focus on critical strike scaling, bypassing enemy elemental resistances upon critical strikes, negating the need for elemental penetration.

Defensively, we deploy Aspect of the Spider and Chill to impede enemy advances, complemented by shattering corpses for added safety. We also benefit from block chance from staves, coupled with defensive flasks like Granite or Basalt.

Ascendancy-wise, Inquisitor's perks like Inevitable Judgment, Augury of Penitence, and Righteous Providence bolster our damage potential and survivability.

Our passive tree prioritizes life, critical strike scaling, staves, and jewel sockets, optimizing damage output.

Gear-wise, we seek items with Aspect of the Spider, life, resistances, and flat elemental damage. A Shaper staff with Power Charge on Critical Strike is pivotal, alongside rare accessories featuring Warlord's Mark on hit for leech.

In the flask department, Atziri's Promise and Dying Sun amplify damage, while a Diamond flask ensures consistent critical strikes.

Jewels augment our build, prioritizing life, spell damage, and flat damage modifiers.

In conclusion, this build offers a gratifying gameplay experience, blending frigid orbs and piercing projectiles to devastating effect. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned veteran, seeking icy thrills, this build delivers.
